Testing your AutoTest

Before giving your students access to your assignments, it is a good idea to test and confirm your AutoTest configuration that you have created!

It is a good practice to test and confirm your AutoTest and assignment configurations before opening your assignments to students. You can do this using theTest Student in CodeGrade, which will allow you to make a Test Submission, which will test your AutoTest and Hand In Requirements, but will not be taken into account when dividing submissions, checking for plagiarism or viewing analytics.

Upload your solution code as a Test Submission, so that you can confirm the workings of your test.

  1. Go to the Submissions Page or the Assignment Management Page and find the Upload submission dialog.

  2. Select the files or archive you want to upload.

  3. Before uploading, select the Test Submission checkbox so that your submission is done by theTest Student.

Iteratively designing your AutoTest

Instead of testing your AutoTest configuration only after it is finished, it is a good practice to do so already while creating it. Follow the steps above to upload your solution code as a Test Submission before starting to configure your automatic tests. Now, every time you altered your tests, click Run to (re-)run on the Test Submission and see how your updated tests work.
