Configuring student questions

Enable or disable student questions, which will allow your students to ask you questions about their code through CodeGrade.

All new courses in CodeGrade have student questions automatically enabled, which allows students to ask questions directly in their code - just like inline comments for teachers - about their code, automatic feedback or the assignment. You will receive an email notification for each question asked.

You can enable and disable student questions on a course level, meaning that the policy you choose will be applied to all assignments in your course:

  1. Navigate to the "Course Management" page of your course.

  2. Go to the "Permissions" tab and search for the "Add inline comments to own submissions" permission.

  3. Enable or disable this permission for students by checking the box in the Student role column.

As students will only see their feedback after you release it to them, students will only see their answers then too. If you want to allow your students to see their answers before the assignments grade's are published, also give them the permission "See feedback before grades published". Please note that students with this permission will also be able to see regular inline comments with this permission.
